			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-174" title="dongtan" src="http://cristinamoon.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/dongtan-150x150.gif" alt="dongtan" width="150" height="150" />Interesting articles about two green cities I received via twitter &#8211; one outside of Shangai, China and one in Georgia, USA.  While one &#8220;outsized&#8221; plan seems to have quietly gone under, another eco-village has sprung up, perhaps one could say, more organically.  The former is <a href="http://www.economist.com/world/asia/displaystory.cfm?story_id=13330904">Dongtan</a>, an eco-city (no longer?) outside of Shanghai (pictured left) planned to have 50,000 residents by 2030.  The latter is <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/wayoflife/03/18/serenbe.green.community/index.html?eref=rss_topstories">Serenbe</a> in rural Georgia.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s an interesting tale of two cities and urban planning &#8211; how does one go about conscientiously building a city that minimizes pollution, sprawl, and associated ills?  Slow and steady wins the race, I guess.</p>
