Interesting articles about two green cities I received via twitter – one outside of Shangai, China and one in Georgia, USA. While one “outsized” plan seems to have quietly gone under, another eco-village has sprung up, perhaps one could say, more organically. The former is Dongtan, an eco-city (no longer?) outside of Shanghai (pictured left) planned to have 50,000 residents by 2030. The latter is Serenbe in rural Georgia.
It’s an interesting tale of two cities and urban planning – how does one go about conscientiously building a city that minimizes pollution, sprawl, and associated ills? Slow and steady wins the race, I guess.
